SCMS Club

Chronology of its history

1969

Miss Mabel María Mazzini and Miss Juana Gradin pursue the creation of a "St. Catherine's School " former students´ hockey team. The opening game, of the 1st "C" Division (called "Primera División C"), was a home game in Club Mitre´s field.

1971

Mrs. Mazzini bought some land in the area of Tortuguitas to meet the needs of the club: own hockey pitches and enough space to carry out sport-related activities. These fields would soon be called "El Campito" and over time would also become the school´s headquarters in Tortuguitas.

1980

A new boost was given to the club. Former players were summoned to make up a new team and Prof. Gustavo Paolucci was appointed coach. From that moment onwards, "St. Catherine's Club " started having a significant period of promotions, unique in the history of Argentine hockey:

• in 1983 to 1st "C" division (primera división C)

• in 1984 to 1st "B" division (primera división B)

• in 1985 to 1st "A" division (primera división A)

1992

St. Catherine's Moorlands Club acquired legal status as a civil association and became a member of the Argentine Amateur Hockey Association.

1994

Opening of the first synthetic field in Argentina.

2003

The School-Club (SCMC) presented two complete teams for the championship at the Argentine Hockey Confederation (CAH). Another inaugural milestone in the history of Argentine hockey since it was the first time an event of this nature was recorded.

Team A ended runner-up in the tournament "Copa de Honor" and Argentine Champion of Clubs in its category.

2015

Team A was relegated to the Metropolitan "B" Division but Team B, which was promoted to the "D" division had the best year in its history.  In addition, some of our children and youth teams qualified for the playoffs.

2016

Team A playing in B division they ascended to 1st Division “A” and Team B playing in division "D" remained in the same Category.

2017/2020

The Team A remains in  "A" division  and  The Team B remains in division "D".

The club we have today, a prestigious and renowned institution with more than 400 girls enrolled, is due to the effort of all the players, coaches and parents who took part along 47 years.

The growth in the sport and the strengthening of friendship bonds among the players are two characteristics that distinguish us.
